Hamamatsu Matsuri/濱松まつり is one of the major festivals held in Japan!
Posters are hung even inside Shizuoka JR station!
It is an old Festival as it was held since the Muromachi Era (1555~1569).
It has been more or less been held in its present form since 1884!
The main reason for its international fame is the enormous kites flown during the 3 days of the festival and especially on May 5th, Boys Day, as the family of each newborn boy will fly one those immense kites!
This year it will be held from may 3rd (Saturday) to May 5th (Monday), all National Holidays!
and don’t forget that the Festival lasts into the night every day with floats and many other events!
