Manhole Covers in Shizuoka Prefecture 14: Yui, Shimizu Ku, Shizuoka City

Yui, which was still a city of its own not so long ago before it was merged into Shimizu Ku, Shizuoka City, might be relatively small, but is fishing harbor town known all over Japan for its succulent cherry shrimps/sakura ebi and thus deserved some particular attention!

One can find both the large version and small version together along the road starting left of Yui Station!

A large orange fire hydrant commonly found throughout the prefecture but with one detail separating it for the rest!

This particular emblem can be found only in Yui!
Note that the color orange often denotes fire station property!

A large and beautiful bronze color manhole cover!

Manufactured by the Chubu Foundry!

They are to be found in one single spot across from a bank!

Unusually blue for that type but with the Yui emblem!
I’m sure that the color blue has a meaning!

A private manhole cover which can bear up to 500 kg. The notice says to secure it safely and tightly!

But this other one by the same compny can bear up to 500 kg! LOL

Japanese Gastronomy, Markets & Local Products at S-Pulse Dream Plaza in Shimizu Ku, Shizuoka City!

If you have the occasion to visit (choose a rainy day!) Shimizu Ku (formerly Shimizu City before it was merged with Shizuoka City), you ought to try and visit S-Pulse Dream Plaza to have a good look at the local gastronomy in markets and taste it in the many restaurants inside! I can assure you there is lot to investigate as Shimizu is a major fishing harbor in Japan and is surrounded by the greatest variety of agricultural producers!

First of all take the Tokaido Line/JR Line and get off at Shimizu.
Once past the ticket machines turn right, walk to the first exit and go down the stairs!

Once downstairs turn left and look for the bus stop ring!

Your bus stop is just beyond this (strange) sign!

This is the schedule (weekdays on the left and week-ends on the right) for the free limousine bus service to S Pulse Dream Plaza!

Incidentally this is also the bus stop for the free limousine bus to the ferry harbor if you want to take a ferry boat to Toi, Izu Peninsula!

Don’t get me wrong! This is not an advert for a bank nor a suggestion that you should deposit your money there!

But if it is your first visit, or if you wish to know a bit more about our City, walk straight ahead from Shizuoka JR Station, past the main crossroads with Egawa Street and you will find Shizuoka Shin Yoo Bank/静岡信用銀行 on your right just before reaching Shizuoka City Hall!

Have a good look at their display windows. It is definitely worth the attention! Actually if it rains or if it is too hot you could see the main posters inside. The bank welcomes casual visitors!
If all banks were emulating it Shizuoka city would certainly be an even better place for it!
