Prices: Reasonable for such big servings! Great value for your money!
Strong points: Very generous cafe/bistro multi-genred gastronomy. Great variety. Great products. Very modern atmosphere. Great books! Extensive drinks menu.
Shizuoka City has a lot to offer to hungry and tired visitors and arguably the best place in town to take a break and delve into international, especially Western-style gastronomy at very decent prices for generous servings is BLUE BOOKS café at a walking distance from Shizuoka JR Station right in the middle of the city close to all the shops of note!
Not only can you eat and/or drink, especially at lunch time and dinner time, but you can also enjoy yourself as long as you want with coffee, tea or any other drink with your own book, laptop, android or with one of themany books on the shelves against the walls.
There are many kinds of seating including easy table and chairs, deep armchairs or my favorite elevated table near the kitchen! Be you alone or in company you will find your favorite seat!
Lunch and more extensive dinner menus are available any day of the week served by smiling and attentive but easy-going staff!
The hungry customers will be happy to learn than home-baked bread is freely served before and during meals!
Now, they do serve many scrumptious dishes, all very generous and good value for your money!
Here is an idea of what you can enjoy, keeping in mind that the menus change accordingly to seasons and availability as most ingredients are local! And bear in mind that this is a slow food establishment!
Curry with saffron rice and small grilled lobster!
Bread and salad and coffee/tea are always included in the set menus!
Deep-fried chicken scone sandwich and mushrooms in cream sauce!
Sauteed black bass, deep-fried oysters and seasonal vegetables in curry sauce!
